Nurturing Your Dreams: An Inspiration from a Gamer, Teacher, and Game Developer

As a woman, a mother, and a game developer, I’ve often been told that I should focus on more “conventional” pursuits. But I’ve always believed that our dreams are the seeds of our potential, and that we should never let societal expectations or personal doubts deter us from pursuing them.

My journey to creating a studio began with a simple love for gaming. Growing up, I spent countless hours immersed in the virtual worlds of Tetris, Civilization, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Tekken, and Duck Tales. These games sparked my imagination, ignited my curiosity, and taught me the value of strategic thinking and problem-solving (but also reflexes, and English).

Later, as a teacher trainer, I witnessed the transformative power of learning and the importance of fostering motivation in my students. I realized that games, when designed with care, could be powerful tools for learning and engagement.

It was during the pandemic that I finally decided to take the leap and pursue my dream of creating my studio, by retraining in game production, at 36 years old. I recognized that there were too few wholesome and engaging games specifically designed for children, and I felt a calling to create something that would not only entertain but also inspire young minds.

My journey from avid gamer to creating Springfox Games has been filled with challenges, but it has also been incredibly rewarding. I’ve learned that it’s never too late to pursue our dreams, and that our life experiences, both personal and professional, can provide us with the skills and insights we need to succeed.

To my fellow women and mothers, I encourage you to never give up on your dreams. Embrace your passions, challenge societal norms, and believe in your ability to create something extraordinary. Remember, the world needs your unique perspective, your creativity, and your unwavering determination.

So, let’s nurture our dreams, embrace our passions, and embark on the journeys that will lead us to fulfilling our true potential.
